Per 4 May 2012, Women for Water in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania is officially registered

The General Assembly of Women for Water decided in 2010 to look for new ways of involving and supporting community based women’s organizations in Africa and facilitate country-based programs.

In this framework it was decided to start thinking of decentralization but also of getting clear footholds in African countries. Given our membership and already running projects in Tanzania, it was decided to register Women for Water there as one of the steps in this process.

Women for Water in the start up phase will be represented in Tanzania by Mary Rusimbi, chair of TGNP and former SC member of WfWP. (Click here for contact information.)

Talks with WfWP members’ TGNP and TWG in Tanzania about a multi-annual country program and what the future structure should look, like have started during WfWP’s SC members visit early May.
