Rain Water Harvesting, Henawala District Hospital , Kadugannawa, Kandy: first tanks installed
August 9th, 2010 - NetWwater (Network of Women Water Professionals) Sri Lanka, a founder member of the Women for Water Partnership is implementing a Rain Water Harvesting project to address the water problems in rural hospitals. In order to reduce the monthly water bill, provide water for sanitation and help the hospital to face up shortages caused by ongoing climatic changes, NetWWater as part of a larger project has assisted in constructing the first 8500 liters capacity rain water tank with the technical support of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) Regional Service Centre, Peradeniya. General Assembly of the UN acknowledges the right to water and sanitation
August 4th, 2010 - By a vote of 122 in favour to none against and 41 abstentions, the General Assembly on the 28th of July 2010 adopted a resolution declaring “the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights”. Earth Forever hosted successful working conference in Bulgaria
August 3rd, 2010 - From 6-8 July 2010 Earth Forever hosted the 6th Women for Water Working conference in Kazanlak, Bulgaria. In the beautiful setting of the Valley of Roses 60 participants from women’s organisations, local authorities – including mayors, national parliament, experts in the field of water and sanitation, and international institutions like Solidarity Water Europe and UNECE gathered to strategize on sustainable WATSAN solutions for their region and to develop four selected cases into full-fledged project proposals.
