Showcase of (some) finalised projects

Philippines Water and sanitation for 4 villages on the island of Bohol
Member: ZijActief/WOPD (through 4VO)

  • Safe drinking water for the villagers of Langon, Pansul, Carahan and Lantay
  • Hygienic sanitation for 400 families and for day care centers
  • Income generating activities because of the use of faeces for fertilizer
  • Decrease in diseases related to unsafe sanitation
  • Empowerment of the women in the villages because they are responsible for the project development, implementation and the maintenance of the drinking water
  • Empowerment of the villagers, especially women
  • Up scaling of eco sanitation for 400 families in the 4 villages

Safe water supply for Hayanist village, Armenia
Member: AWHHE/WECF

  • 3084 people have access to safe drinking water
  • 15 multi stakeholder meetings
  • 2 leaflets on drinking water and dissemination, 500 copies each
  • 3 articles published on drinking water supply issues
  • 2 TV programmes: ‘Water and Sanitation System in Hayanist’ and ’Environmental Health Related to Water’
  • 2 seminars about drinking water scarcity and water saving, 35 villagers participated
  • 10 water samples which proved not to be contaminated

Safe Drinking Water for schoolchildren of Gozhuly village, Ukraine
Member: MAMA–86/WECF

  • Through this project implementation 390 local villagers, including 210 children were served directly and improved the access to safe drinking water
  • By cleaning private wells, more than 150 dwellers improved directly the access to clean drinking water
  • Due to building and putting into operation of a new well and filter 210 children and the 30 persons of Gozhuly Scholl-kindergarten staff improved the access to safe drinking water

AWHHE (Armenia) produced a leaflet  (download  1.2 MB) on the results of capacity building projects.

NetWwater (Sri Lanka) made two school sanitation posters.
