SDC Strategic Partner of WfWP
In 2013 the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC) and Women for Water Partnership agreed to a three year partnership for the period 2013 - 2015. SDC is Switzerland’s international cooperation agency within the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA). The strategic partnership between SDC and WfWP is focussed on two issues: gender equality and water. SDC is core contributor of WfWP and allocates a total of CHF 750,000 or €630.000 over the agreed three year period.
Gender Equality is recognised as an important vehicle to achieve a water secure world and is therefore an integral part of the strategy of SDC’s Global Programme Water Initiatives (GPWIs). This is what connects SDC and the Women for Water Partnership. Together, we will influence and contribute to the Post 2015 Development Agenda:
1. to realise a dedicated Post-2015 water goal;
2. to ensure a gender inclusive perspective in the water sector;
3. to ensure a water dimension in the debate on gender equality.
Objectives
We endeavor the following objectives from this strategic partnership:
a) Women’s increased empowerment and leadership in the water sector;
b) Increased sustainable livelihoods for women and their communities through adequate access to affordable and safe water and sanitation provisions;
c) A strengthened WfWP’s organisational structure in planning, monitoring and evaluation of our activities, interventions and impacted results.
