Women and Water: Multipliers of Development

Women for Water Partnership was proud to support core sponsors, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation(SDC), Swiss Mission, South African Mission and Mexican Mission to the United Nations at a side event at the Commission for the Status of Women 58 on 11 March 2014.
Panelists included Professor Dr. Khin NiNi Thein, on behalf of the of the Women for Water Partnership, who gave a report: “Women's empowerment and leadership for sustainable water governance and development: Myanmar Case” at the standing-only event.
In addition, the following panelists contributed:
Moderator: Mr. Benno Bättig, Secretary-General of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland
Additional comments were given by His Excellency Sulton Rahimov, First Deputy Minister of Tajikistan. Many other dignitaries and leaders in the water world attended the event and contributed to a lively post-panel conversation. The key points made included the contributions that women must make in water solutions through a variety of specific examples and case studies.
