Securing the recognition of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation
in the political Declaration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda
Join us in the global call to action for water justice. As active supporter, Women for Water Partnership would like to share this important message of the Right2water team in support of Post-2015/SDG Global Water Justice Campaign Organizers, with you.
Dear supporters of the right to water,
We would like to ask you again to stand in solidarity with people and planet on securing the recognition of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation in the political Declaration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
As you know, thanks to our joint advocacy efforts and the support of champion Member States, the human right to water was included in the Chapeau of the outcome document of the Open Working Group. Your support of this SDG campaign to include the Human Right to Water and Sanitation made the difference. Thank you for your advocacy around this critical issue.
Today, we are writing to you as the Intergovernmental Negotiations on the Post-2015 Agenda are well underway. UN Member States are currently giving input to the Declaration of the Post-2015 Development Agenda. This will be the document of political aspiration that will be adopted by Heads of State at the United Nations Summit to adopt the Post-2015 Development Agenda in September.
It is essential for the human right to water and sanitation to be included in the Declaration, and the time is now to reignite our campaign to make this clear to governments.
It is anticipated that the zero-draft of the Declaration to the Post-2015 Development Agenda will be released next month. As governments voice their input to this draft, we call on you to:
