Armenian Women for Health and Healthy Environment (AWHHE), as a national NGO, takes on a key role in Armenia as a liaison between the government and civil society in the implementation of the UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) / WHO (World Health Organization) Protocol on Water and Health to the Water Convention.
AWHHE’s extensive network of professionals represent the voice of civil society to ensure that water policies give due consideration to the gender dimensions of water and health. It influences policy and monitors state projects to ensure better alignment with the reality on the ground and to safeguard that the local population benefits from investments and interventions.
Together with partners AWHHE to-date has implemented more than 25 water and sanitation projects across Armenia, primarily in schools through awareness raising interventions, implementing water safety plans in schools and improving water pipes in rural communities.
