Inspiring action to tackle the global sanitation crisis, this annual event is an important day on the calendar of Women for Water and its members. Women are disproportionally affected by this worldwide issue of inadequate sanitation facilities. 1 billion still defecate in the open. Full story

The majority of national climate plans with an adaptation component which have been submitted under the Paris Climate Change Agreement prioritize action on water, yet financing would need to triple to meet such targets. WfWP has co-signed calls of its members Soroptimist International and IFBPW to put empowerment of rural women and girls on the CSW62 Agenda: "For the empowerment of rural women and girls to be realised through sustainable development, there needs to be more than a superficial commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals".

World Food Day 2017
WfWP member WOFAN in Nigeria brought over 80 women groups of 30 members each from 40 different WOFAN centers together to mark World Food Day 2017. Government representatives, traditional and community leaders, youth and children all joined the WOFAN women to declare their commitment as citizens to eradicate worldwide hunger. Full story
