WfWP presents its candidature for the World Water Council Board of Governors 2019-2021, to work with WWC members and staff to stress the urgency and importance of implementing SDG 6 and water related targets, combined with SDG 5, since women play a pivotal role in creating equal access to safe water and sanitation. Women as change-makers
Women for Water Partnership is proud to present a new IUCN publication we wrote along with IUCN, SaciWATERs and Oxfam: "Women as change-makers in the governance of shared waters". The publication, launched during World Water Week, draws attention to the issue of gender equality in transboundary water governance and demonstrate that positive change is happening on the ground. High Level Political Forum on SDG5&6
Agenda 2030 and the SDGs give unique guidance both on women’s empowerment (SDG5) and the importance of “water and sanitation” (SDG 6) and the connection between the two. Implementation however is lagging behind. During the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2018 WfWP co-convened a side event assessing whether women are meaningfully involved in implementing SDG 6+ in the national plans of countries. WWD 2018 - Nature for Water
The theme of the 25th World Water Day celebration – Nature for Water – explores how we can use nature to overcome the water challenges of the 21st century. Environmental damage, together with climate change, is driving the water-related crises we see around the world. Floods, drought and water pollution are all made worse by degraded vegetation, soil, rivers and lakes. Women and girls are affected the most.
