Vrouwen van Nu (Today’s Women) was established in 1930 by rural women in the Netherlands and for a long period the exclusive domain of farmers’ wives and rural women in general.
However, in the past couple of decades Vrouwen van Nu has evolved into a neutral organisation that is open to women from all walks of life. We have neither political nor religious colouring.
With approximately 45.000 members and 550 chapters nationwide Vrouwen van Nu is the largest women’s organisation in The Netherlands, able to be active in and committed to affairs which are important to today’s women, such as food security, prevention of food waste, the environment, solidarity with women worldwide and crafts. Vrouwen van Nu furthermore cooperates with other (sister) organisations in the Netherlands and abroad.
